SILVER -NATIONAL WINE AWARDS OF CANADA 2015
Aged for 17 months in oak barrels, winemaker Amber Pratt fought hard for proprietor Chris Jentsch to let her keep these 2 exceptional barrels back from being blended away into the 2013 Chase red blend.
After fermentation the intense blueberry and Earl Grey tea characteristics were so unique, we wanted to see how these would fare with some extra maturation and barrel influence. The results are powerful yet delicate.
Brambly black fruits with a touch of toasty wood and sweet baking spices greet you on the nose.
Those same characteristics reunite on the palate to give the impression of freshly baked blackberry pie.
Medium integrated tannins and fresh acidity.
Syrah is lamb's best friend... or is it vice versa? Especially when nice and crusty with herbs and black olives , or pop it on the grill to play up the smoky notes. Syrah also loves pork, especially sweet sticky barbecue.
Juicy, full-bodied Syrah co-fermented with 9% Viognier, lending aromas of apricot skins and violets. Flavours of blueberry, blackberry, sweet spice and black pepper combine with a velvety texture, medium tannins, toasty oak and balanced acidity. Pairs wonderfully with roasted vegetables, juicy lamb, and everything grilled!
The Quest is a medium bodied, well-balanced, unoaked white blend of Chardonnay, Viognior and Gewurztraminer. Bright fruit aromas join palate friendly flavours of peach, lime and pear. Perfect for entertaining. Serve well chilled.
Suitable anytime on its own and delicious paired with lightly cooked seafood like crab cakes or prawns or steamed fillet of sole. A chunky chicken salad on a brioche bun smeared with tangy fruit chutney makes for a flavourful light lunch.
This juicy Syrah is rich and complex. Light black pepper, dark cherry, plum and leather meet the nose and palate. Barrel aged for 15 months, this wine delivers medium-full body, great balance, velvety tannins and a long finish.
A tasty match with dark meats and spicy dishes. Grilled beef steak, roasted lamb, pulled pork and meaty pasta all make tasty pairings with this Syrah. Hearty vegetable chilis and stews are also a nice match. A munchie tray of cured meats, fancy crackers and swiss, provolone and aged hard cheeses will meet with approval.
A medium bodied merlot aged in toasty American oak barrels for 15 months. Aromatic notes of cherry, plum, toast, oak, cedar, mint, violet and leather join flavours of dark cherry, plum, dried fruit, eucalyptus/mint, and a hint of chocolate.
Pairs nicely with pate, roastd meats like veal and pork, ribs, brie stuffed burgers, roasted mushrooms and cheesy potato gratins.
This expression of Cabernet Sauvignon with soft tannins is velvety smooth. Blackberry, black currant, tobacco leaf and earthy notes prevail.
Aged in medium toast French oak barrels for 15 months, this Cabernet Sauvignon pairs well with full flavoured dishes, Moroccan lamb stew or beef stew, marinated mushrooms, richly seasoned veggie casseroles or carbernet braised venison cheeks all work. A classic roast beef and Yorkshire pudding dinner is a good match as is a portobello mushroom burger with roasted red pepper and a tomato, peeled celery and carrot salsa on a whole grain grilled bun.
Only 4 barrels of our Small Lot Series Cabernet Franc were produced in 2018. This well-balanced wine, offers medium-high acidity and approachable tannins after 16 months in medium French oak.
Our Cabernet Franc pairs well with grilled and barbecued meats, particularly game. A turkey dinner with cranberry or roasted pork and a spicy apple sauce is delicious. Try meatballs in tomato sauce with mushroom risotto or your favourite stuffed ravioli.
This is a soft and seductive Malbec with rich flavours of dark plum and blackbery that accompany hints of violets and vanilla.
Dinners, including lean red meats like a beef tenderloin stuffed or topped with melted blue cheese, roasted vegetables, lamb curries and stews, braised pork shoulder, or duck, all pair nicely with this Malbec. Dark chocolate truffles are a spot on accompaniment to finish a meal with Malbec.
The Quest is an unoaked white blend of Chardonnay, Viognier and Gewurtraminer. Layers of pear and orange blossoms mingle with green apple and lime to create a well balanced, medium bodied refreshing wine.
Here is a Rose that's suitable for year round enjoyment. It's a great summer wine but you will want to save a few bottles for fall turkey dinners and the year-end holidays. Serve well chilled.
In the past our Blanc de Noir has been made with 100% Merlot. However two nights of frost early in October shortened the ripening season in 2019 and birds ate most of our Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon before we could pick it, so for this vintage we blended the very best of these premium grapes into this slightly off dry edition offering creamy cherry and vanilla flavours.
This earthy, juicy unfiltered Syrah was aged in barrel for 13 months and has rich, complex aromas of plum, black pepper, anise and leather. Blackberry and cherry flavours play in the long savoury finish.
Barbecued and grilled meats, pulled pork, lamb ragout, leg of lamb with mint sauce, beef steak, venison and game birds make delicious pairings with this Syrah as do protein rich vegetarian dishes with mushrooms, quinoa, lentils and chickpeas. Aged hard cheese go well with Syrah.
Lifted notes of buttered popcorn and caramel intermingle with guava and grapefruits. Sweet fruits dominate the entry that leads to an intense and lush mid palate. Fine acidity balances and enhances the length of this very complex wine framed with neutral oak to allow this Summerland vineyard to shine through. Delicious now but can be cellared for 5 years at least.
Excellent to pair with lobster and scallops or pizza with white sauce.
Rich and bursting with flavours of blueberry and elderflower, this luscious four barrel lot of Malbec aged for 16 months is concentrated and yet delicate. Dark fruit as black currant and plums, hints of dried herbs and licorice combine with a smooth palate that together with powerful underlying tannins lead to a finish that seems to last for an eternity.
Great with braised pork , duck, a rich sausage pizza or scallop risotto.
This 1998 vintage zesty malt style Tawny cherry vinegar is made from 100% premium Okanagan cherries. Oak barrel aged with smooth texture and malty flavour.
